WarMetal Unit Analysis[]

In terms of unboosted capacity, Photon Walker is the second best in-game assault unit for epics. When boosted by Omega, Photon Walker does a staggering 12 damage/attack and when boosted by Omega and Beowulf Cluster, that goes to ~12.3 damage/attack, which is greater than Anvil. As such, it would be wise to get into a Cataclysm as soon as you can comfortably do 161K damage in that event, which is the first tier level where a Photon Walker might be dropped as loot (281K damage would be more efficient once you can do that much damage). Because there's only a 33.3% chance that you'll get a Photon Walker, you may end up having to do quite a few Cats in order to get a full compliment of Photon Walkers but it will be time well spent for doing Epics like Titans and beyond.

For PvP combat, Photon Walkers are of little value unless you don't have a lot of units doing damage greater than 1.8/attack.

Tyrant Card Analysis[]

Photon Walker is another example of meatshields that sometimes bite. It has 0 base Attack, so it's immune to Weakening; and 6 Health grants it synergy with Heal like Freddie and Supply like Mech Aid.

However, Photon has no other offensive and defensive skills, so it's weak against all sorts of tricks, especially Poison, Flying, Protect, Flurry, Armor and a selection of blitz units. Also, Photon needs to be Rallied before being able to attack.

Solutions have been developed to protect Photon while allowing it to attack: sometimes it is played as the last card, so that Photon can always Rally itself; sometimes it is the only Imperial unit in the deck, so that Photon can always Rally itself; sometimes it is played after some sort of Rally All is in place like ComSat Terminal and Stormrunner, to get the necessary Rally. Either way, Photon's Valor is unlikely to proc due to the sheer number of units played from your deck.
